We are Lunarians, sonic architects of the arcane and otherworldly. Our sound includes elements of psychedelia, art rock and electronica with occasional forays into dub and into drum and bass.
We formed in Bristol in 2009 and have played The Harbourside Festival (twice), St Werburghs City Farm Festival and Stokes Croft Street Festival. We had an eight month residency at No. 51 Stokes Croft. We've played all the major Bristol venues: The Fleece, The Croft, The Louisiana, Mr Wolfs, Start The Bus, The Canteen, etc. We've also occasionally delved into our neighbouring cities.
An early version of Lunarians track, Pink Metal, has been played internationally by DJ duo Deepgroove.
Band VJ Jason Baker has done shows with Annie Mac and Cagedbaby.
Lunarians remix of Her Winters Coat by singer/ songwriter Annette Buckley gained radio play in Ireland.
Our debut album Lost Light Receiver can be downloaded for free from this website.
Venue magazine (R.I.P.) was kind enough to say the following of us.
"The closest thing to Ian Curtis holding a rave tent hostage and employing a beats-rolling, skyscraping guitar band to keep the captives willingly onside"
"There's a proper intensity about them this eve. Guitar variously snaps and swirls, beats rage and, out front, a portentously voiced man dancing as if electrically pulsed and- to judge from the urgency of tone- spitting out warnings from warnings from The Book Of Revelations"
"[An] oddly disarming mix of psychedelically inflected guitars, vocals pitched on an Ian Curtis level of sunnyness and a dreamy beatiness you'd most readily associate with the sounds of yer traditional liquid projection-enhanced festival dance tent"
